Homebrew which is a package manager for OSX. To install just follow the homebrew website http:\/\/mxcl.github.com\/homebrew\/<\/a>  <\/p>\n

$ \/usr\/bin\/ruby -e “$(curl -fsSL https:\/\/raw.githubusercontent.com\/Homebrew\/install\/master\/install)”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It is recommended to install brew cask which is an application installer. Its different from default brew as brew only installs in command binary apps in bin folder, meaning you can only access them via commandline. Cask which is an addition, installs standard mac applications for you.<\/p>\n

$ brew install caskroom\/cask\/brew-cask<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

After installation. open terminal and run brew update and brew doctor<\/p>\n

$ brew update
\n$ brew doctor<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You should get lots of updates and installs plus warning. Now if you look at the problems, you may find this problem. Where do you update the bash file or profile. basically you should be able to find this in your home directory. the home directory is the current folder when you open up terminal. Alternatively just type ~\/ .which will bring you back to your home directory.<\/p>\n

$ cd ~<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Okay. next is to create a bash profile. so try the following<\/p>\n

$ open -t ~\/.bash_profile<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If you get an error. Just do this.<\/p>\n

$ touch ~\/.bash_profile
\n$ open -t ~\/.bash_profile<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Next add in these lines to your end of profile.<\/p>\n

# HomeBrew Added Paths
\nexport PATH=”\/usr\/local\/bin:$PATH:\/usr\/local\/sbin”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Then redo the brew doctor again. You should see less problems.<\/p>\n

$ source ~\/.profile> brew doctor<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

If you are all okay you should get “Your system is raring to brew.<\/i>
\n“<\/i><\/p>\n

Some common errors listed below and perhaps you can fix.<\/p>\n

Problem 1<\/b><\/p>\n

Warning: Some directories in \/usr\/local\/share\/man aren’t writable.
\nThis can happen if you “sudo make install” software that isn’t managed
\nby Homebrew. If a brew tries to add locale information to one of these
\ndirectories, then the install will fail during the link step.
\nYou should probably `chown` them:<\/p>\n

\/usr\/local\/share\/man\/de
\n\/usr\/local\/share\/man\/de\/man1<\/p>\n

Solution:<\/p>\n

$ sudo chmod -R 777 \/usr\/local\/share\/man\/de<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Problem 2<\/b>
\n
\n<\/b>Warning: Unbrewed dylibs were found in \/usr\/local\/lib.
\nIf you didn’t put them there on purpose they could cause problems when
\nbuilding Homebrew formulae, and may need to be deleted.<\/p>\n

Unexpected dylibs:
\n\/usr\/local\/lib\/libntfs-3g.54.0.0.dylib    \/usr\/local\/lib\/libntfs.9.0.0.dylib
\nWarning: Unbrewed .pc files were found in \/usr\/local\/lib\/pkgconfig.
\nIf you didn’t put them there on purpose they could cause problems when
\nbuilding Homebrew formulae, and may need to be deleted.<\/p>\n

Unexpected .pc files:
\n\/usr\/local\/lib\/pkgconfig\/libntfs-3g.pc
\nWarning: Unbrewed static libraries were found in \/usr\/local\/lib.
\nIf you didn’t put them there on purpose they could cause problems when
\nbuilding Homebrew formulae, and may need to be deleted.<\/p>\n

Solution: Remove the files by<\/p>\n

$ rm \/usr\/local\/lib\/libntfs-3g.54.0.0.dylib<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
