It comes with a default windows driver, which is unfortunate if you have linux installed. To enable this usb wireless transmitter just follow these steps. I hope it helps someone as it was quite problematic for myself.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>goto http:\/\/www.ralinktech.com<\/li>\n<li> (actual drive page: http:\/\/www.ralinktech.com\/en\/04_support\/support.php?sn=501<\/li>\n<li> Download the RT5370 usb driver and extract on desktop<\/li>\n<li> Open Terminal<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote><p><i>sudo apt-get install build-essential<br \/>sudo su<br \/>make<br \/>make install<br \/>modprobe rt5370sta<br \/>exit<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>&#8211; or &#8211;\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><i>sudo apt-get install build-essential<br \/>sudo su<br \/>make clean<br \/>make<br \/>modprobe -r rt5370sta<br \/>modprobe rt5370sta<br \/>exit<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Installing Dell 5150c<\/h3>\n<p>Installing Dell 5150c wireless 1450 Ubuntu 11.04 or later. This guide will help you install a wireless device which cannot be recognised by ubuntu \/ lubuntu by default. The wireless device may only have a windows driver which is enough to get you setup.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure you have a wired connection to the router<\/li>\n<li>plug in the machine to get internet access<\/li>\n<li>install wine on ubuntu by\u00a0<b>apt-get install wine<\/b><\/li>\n<li>download drivers from support.dell.com (R138111.exe)<\/li>\n<li>install ndiswrapper-common, ndiswrapper-utils, ndis-gtk (you have to download the .deb files and install them manually)<\/li>\n<li>run the installation file R138111.exe and it should install (with errors)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Extracting the INF files<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>open terminal and go to ~\/.wine\/<\/li>\n<li>you should see a C drive. Go to program files\/dell drivers\/2k (cant remember the whole path but its somewhere there.)<\/li>\n<li>zip the whole folder 2k by using (<b>sudo zip 2k 2k.zip -r<\/b>)<\/li>\n<li>copy the zip file to desktop<\/li>\n<li>install and launch ndiswrapper (all of them)<\/li>\n<li>launch ndiswrapper gui and add the new INF driver<\/li>\n<li>bingo it should work.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For Lubuntu Users you might notice that the network manager does not automatically start (LXNM does not start automatically). Please follow the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol><\/p>\n<li>open terminal and enter\u00a0<b>sudo apt-get install build-essential<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>sudo nano \/etc\/modules<\/b>\u00a0and add in\u00a0<b>ndiswrapper<\/b>\u00a0in the last line<\/li>\n<li>open terminal and enter\u00a0<b>sudo ndiswrapper -l<\/b><\/li>\n<li>you should see your wireless network installed (if not refer to above)<\/li>\n<li>type\u00a0<b>sudo ndiswrapper -m<\/b><\/li>\n<li>type\u00a0<b>sudo ndiswrapper -ma<\/b><\/li>\n<li>type\u00a0<b>sudo ndiswrapper -mi<\/b><\/li>\n<li>type<b>\u00a0sudo rmmod ndiswrapper &amp;&amp; sudo modprobe ndiswrapper<\/b><\/li>\n<li>once you reboot, it should now automatically connect you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>if you hate LXNM (default network manager for lubuntu), i suggest you install wicd (http:\/\/wicd.sourceforge.net\/)<\/p>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li><b>sudo apt-get install build-essential<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>sudo apt-get install wicd<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<p>Other notes:<\/p>\n<p>In my case, i had to set the router settings to WEP Open System (64bit).
